I’m sure you have heard the term ‘free money offer’ floating around the internet over the last year. I thought it might be helpful to provide some context as to what they are and how they work. With the rise of Fintech (Financial technology) apps and companies more and more of these free money offers are becoming available.
What are free money offers?
They are pretty much what they say on the tin. You sign up to a new website or app, complete a set number of actions or steps and you will be rewarded in cash for your time.
Why do companies give away free money?
A lot of these new Fintech companies rely on crowdfunding or a hefty investment to get them started. In return for these investments they have to show growth of the brand. And a quick way to grow a new company is to pay people to join. You are a happy consumer because you’ve had a freebie and the brand is happy because they’ve now got the stats and figures to be able to approach another investor or to start another crowdfund.
Can I keep doing free money offers?
With most of these kinds of offers you will need to be able to provide I.D to sign up. This is often for money laundering reasons from the brands side of things. It also means for us as a consumer that the offer can only be completed once. So make sure you read the full step list and complete the offer in full to receive your reward. The only way to make an ongoing income from free money offers is to refer your friends to the app with your unique code or link provided within the app. For example, if you complete the Monzo offer you will get £5 from Monzo and then if you refer your friends to Monzo you will get another £5 for every friend you refer. So if you refer 5 friends that’s £25!
